A motorcyclist remains in hospital with serious injuries after a collision with a car between Sutton and Mansfield

The incident happened shortly before 4pm yesterday (Sunday) on the A617 Sherwood Road South.

Sherwood Road South remains closed between Derby Road and Hamilton Road and is likely to be shut for the majority of today (Monday).

Police Sergeant Mark Baker has been at the scene today and is leading the investigation.

He said: "Our investigation into this incident is well underway and we are working to establish the circumstances around how a man sustained his injuries.

“The rider remains at Queen’s Medical Centre for treatment.

"We are now appealing for anyone who may have seen the incident and can provide us any information to help with our enquiries.

“Clearly this is a very serious matter and I would encourage anyone who saw what happened and has not yet spoken to the police to come forward.

"If you were in the area at the time, please check any dashcam footage and help us to find answers for the man’s family and friends.

"A 39-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and he remains in police custody.

"If you have information which could help the investigation you should contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 433 of 30 August 2020."
