Boost of energy for bowls club
The volunteers who run the club, as well as its members, had been fund raising for two years to pay for solar photovoltaic panels, before they approached the energy company E.ON.
The community grant of £2,000 is said to represent around a third of the total cost of the panels.
The panels were installed last month.

Hide AdJohn Brunt, Secretary of the Polly Bowls Club CIC, said: “We expect to use most of the electricity we now generate from the solar panels.
“This means we’ll have to take less from the National Grid, and we’ll also be able to claim payments for the energy we produce under the government’s Feed-in Tariff scheme.
Amy Cross, Senior Community Relations Executive at E.ON, said: “With several different sports clubs and groups using the facilities at Unwin Road, we felt this was a project which would bring benefits to the wider community in Sutton.
“Without the £2,000 we wouldn’t have been able to install the panels.”
