Stonebridge Fields, a 40-acre site off Stonebridge Lane, is to feature 400 homes, ranging from two-bedroom to five-bedroom.

Leading housebuilder Barratt Homes, which will be responsible for 152 of the properties, is staging Saturday’s launch with a showcase event at the John Fretwell Complex on nearby Sookholme Road.

Both companies stress it will be environmentally friendly and also a boost to the Warsop community.

The development will be surrounded by 8.4 acres of open space, making it, the developers say, the perfect place to walk the dog, go for a run or have a picnic.

And it will feature ‘highways’ and homes for hedgehogs, bird boxes, bat boxes, insect habitats and ‘swift bricks’, which enable bird nests to be embedded within the brickwork.

The developers have also agreed to inject more than £1.2 million into Warsop community facilities as part of their planning agreement with the council.

This will include £560,000 towards improvements at primary schools, £215,000 towards health care, £368,000 towards the maintenance of open space and £55,000 to improvements at Carr Lane Park in the town.

Mark Coles, managing director of Barratt Homes North Midlands, said: “Being given the green light to begin work on this exciting development moves us closer to delivering more properties to eager home-buyers.

"The scheme will supply another boost for the region and provide a new and exciting opportunity to those looking to take the next step on the property ladder.”
