From plush new buildings to the loss of old workplaces and the creation of modern transport links, here are 10 examples illustrating how the town has altered since 2000.
1. Running out of road

3. A piece of history
Work started in 2018 on a £1.4 million revamp of Mansfield's Grade II-listed Old Town Hall, with the aim of bringing it back into full use for the first time in more than 30 years. Photo: Rachel Atkins
4. Trains on a Sunday at last
Trains began running on Sundays from Mansfield station in December 2008 - the town previously had the unenviable reputation of being the largest in the UK not to have Sunday rail services.
