5. Losing the fizz
Soft drinks firm A.G. Barr - the maker of Irn-Bru and Tizer - ran a factory on the Bellamy Road estate that closed in 2011 when operations moved elsewhere. The site employed hundreds of people and was previously owned by Mansfield Brewery, which used the facility to produce fizzy drinks under its Mandora brand name. Photo: Roger Grayson
6. A better connection
The MARR - Mansfield and Ashfield Regeneration Route - opened in 2004. The bypass was intended to reduce through traffic and improve access by connecting the A617 at Pleasley to the A617 at Rainworth. Photo: Tony Stocks
7. End of an era
The Mansfield Brewery complex at Littleworth closed in 2001 after the company was taken over by Wolverhampton & Dudley Breweries. Production of Mansfield Bitter moved to the West Midlands - however, microbrewery Prior's Well moved to the old Mansfield site in 2019, reviving the location's beer-making heritage.
