A Derbyshire GP practice has been closed after a confirmed case of coronavirus.

Patients have been advised not to attend Buxton Medical Practice, on Temple Road, in Buxton.

A recorded message advises anyone ringing: “We have a confirmed case of coronavirus. We are liaising with Public Health England and the CCG (clinical commissioning group) to ensure all appropriate actions are taken.

“Please do not come to the practice. If you need essential care, please continue to hold and you will be diverted to NHS 111.”

Burbage Primary School in Buxton is also closed for a deep clean following a confirmed case of the virus ‘among the parent population'

It is not known at this stage whether this is the same case as the one referred to by the medical practice.

Two patients who contracted coronavirus on a cruise liner in Japan are currently being treated at the Specialist Infectious Diseases Unit at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield.
