"Be vigilant' - Mansfield woman urges caution over latest Covid vaccine email scam

The emails look and read like the official NHS website and claims you have been selected to receive the coronavirus vaccine due to your medical history.
You are asked to complete a form to accept and book the vaccine, and asks for personal information over several pages, before finally requesting bank details which it says ‘will be used to charge or rebate any charges linked to vaccination programs’.

Hide AdAt this point, many will realise something is afoot, however they will have already imparted personal information which could be used for identity fraud.
The NHS tweeted: “We're seeing reports of scam emails that invite users to input their bank details into a website to confirm their COVID-19 vaccine appointment.
“The NHS will never ask you to share bank details or pay for a vaccine.
“Report suspicious emails to: http://actionfraud.police.uk.”

Hide AdStacey Machin from Mansfield received the email and admits she ‘very nearly fell for this’ as it looked like a legitimate NHS email.
She said: “I just wanted to give you all a heads up about the latest scam and it’s extremely realistic.
“I woke up to an invitation for my COVID-19 vaccination email – I thought great, so I accepted.
"It moved on and gave me my hospital ID which I thought was incorrect, which I thought was odd.

Hide Ad"The next stage it asked for me to confirm my address and contact number however, once I’d entered this, it asked for my bank account details.
