Mansfield woman launches new holistic and massage therapy business to help others
After needing support following a difficult period in her life, a Mansfield woman turned to holistic and massage therapy and has now launched her own business to try and help others.
Rebecca Allen, 39, from Mansfield, has started her own business, Beyond, to try and make holistic and massage therapy more affordable and available to those who need it.
Rebecca said: “Just over a year ago, I found myself in a very different place.
“After an emotionally demanding, mentally exhausting year, I became unwell, left my job, and felt completely lost.

“I felt like I had nowhere to turn so I started searching, not just for answers, but for relief.
“I started using various alternative practitioners for complimentary therapies and I found these really helped.
“Sound baths for a moment of peace, massages to help me de-stress and relax.
“And while I was trying out new ways to help me become more regulated and ways to help me sit with the emotions I was having, I realised how expensive these treatments are, how they are a luxury and not accessible for everyone.
“But in fact they could be the bridge that helps a person during that dark time between their initial GP contact and support.
“This is when I decided to train myself in massage, in a bid to try and bridge that gap and make it as affordable as I personally can.
“I’m trying to build a safe space that people can come to with as much discount as I can physically offer on my own.
“What began as personal healing quickly became a passion. A passion that had always been there, helping others, suddenly grew louder.
“It became clear that this journey wasn’t just for me. It was opening a new path, one that allowed me to learn, heal, and support others along the way.
“And that’s where Beyond was born.
“I’ve pledged ten per cent of all my earnings to go in a fundraising pot and I’m aiming to start doing fundraising in a bid to try and help as many people as I can.
“We have our first event planned this April, although right now it’s small and we’re just starting out.
“I hope to grow this in to a charity and a business that people feel comfortable to come to for help and I want to gain the knowledge to support people the best I can and also curate a team of people who can step in where I can’t.
“Mindfulness and wellbeing is spoken about so much these days so I want to push this in to people’s lives.
“I truly believe mental wellbeing starts from within and with the right guidance, support, and, when needed, medical intervention, real change is possible.
“But sometimes that support doesn’t come quickly enough and that’s where complementary therapies can bridge the gap, helping us learn tools, techniques, and ways to ride each storm as it comes.”
