Spotlight on Hood at events

Nottinghamshire County Council and the Theatre Royal Nottingham have teamed up to promote two celebrations of world famous outlaw Robin Hood.

The county council is currently hosting the 31st annual Robin Hood Festival at Sherwood Forest, running until August 9 with a programme of family fun.

And festival organisers will promote the forthcoming Theatre Royal production of Hood – The Legend Continues – which takes place at the theatre from September 17 to 26, which also celebrates the 150th anniversary of the theatre.

Festival goers can also send in their Robin Hood Festival selfies #sherwoodselfie to win a pair of tickets to see Hood - The Legend Continues on Friday, September 18.

Councillor John Knight, committee chairman for culture, Steve Warrington (Robin Hood) and Mark Williams (Sheriff of Nottingham) have met Theatre Royal’s managing director Robert Sanderson, to promote both anticipated events.

Cllr Knight said: “Our annual Robin Hood Festival is one of the undoubted highlights of our events calendar – it is a week of celebration of Robin and his Merry Men in his Sherwood Forest home with medieval mayhem and entertainment for the whole family.”

Robert Sanderson, Theatre Royal Managing Director said: “Our new production of HOOD – The Legend Continues in September will re-tell the legends of Robin Hood in a modern era, but all the characters will be instantly recognisable.”
