Talk about finding Richard III

The story of how a king was found under a car park in Leicester is going to be told in Huthwaite by the history expert who spearheaded the search.

Philippa Langley was instrumental in persuading Leicester University’s archaeology department to dig up a council-owned car park in an attempt to find the remains of the last Plantagenet king of England, Richard III.

Philippa, the secretary of the Scottish Branch of the Richard III Society, is now set to visit Huthwaite in March for a talk about the discovery as the guest speaker of the Notts and Derby Richard III Society.

Anne Ayres, secretary, said: “We are thrilled to be able to welcome Philippa here to tell the whole story of her ups and downs in the process of instigating such an historic venture.”

The talk is at 2pm on Saturday 8th March at the All Saints Centre, Common Road, Huthwaite. Entrance on the door will be £4. Refreshments included.
