Deadline draws near to stand for Derbyshire Youth Council
Nominations for Derbyshire Youth Council close on Wednesday 12th February so there’s still time to get involved.
The election, run by Derbyshire County Council, is open to students from Derbyshire secondary and special schools, along with colleges in the county.

Hide AdYoung people will also be elected to represent looked after children.
Elected youth council members get involved with decision-making and have their say about issues that affect young people.
Coun Damien Greenhalgh, Derbyshire County Council’s deputy cabinet member for children and young people, said: “If you know a young person who cares about what’s going on in their area, make sure they nominate themselves for election.
“Youth councillors don’t need to be into politics or be top of the class – we need young people who really want to make a difference.”

Hide AdOnce all nominations are in young people have until Friday 7th March to campaign for votes from their fellow school students.
Voting takes place between Monday 10th and Friday 14th March.
Results will be announced at a special event at County Hall in Matlock on Thursday 20th March.
Nomination forms are available in all Derbyshire secondary and special schools. They are also available to download at www.derbyshire.gov.uk/bigvote.
