REVIEW: Peppa Pig Space Adventure is out of this world

As a mum of two Peppa Pig has been a staple show in our house for several years, so when my family was given the chance to visit a new Peppa themed walk-through adventure we jumped at the chance.

The Peppa Pig Space Adventure at the NEC Birmingham is a new, limited-time walk-through experience designed especially for preschoolers and early years children inviting Peppa fans and their grown-ups to step inside Peppa’s world for an out-of-this-world adventure inspired by Peppa’s house and world.

My four-year-old daughter Autumn is still an avid fan of the show whilst my nine-year-old Primrose was eager to take a step down memory lane and take advantage of a deal sweetening stay at the nearby Hilton Birmingham Metropole hotel.

The journey began as we were greeted by the friendly team who presented Autumn with her Peppa Pig headband and we posed for a quick family snap before the adventure began.

Each child received a special star containing a magnetic chip they could use to activate interactive features along the way. This was a really nice feature allowing children to feel like they were at the heart of the story throughout the experience.

The storytelling team set the scene as a rainy day interrupted play in Peppa’s garden and we were invited to take shelter inside the iconic house.

Stepping through the doors was like stepping into a carefully curated TV set where children were able to explore the iconic and recognisable rooms of Peppa’s home.

We enjoyed making a sandwich in the kitchen, building a rocket in Peppa’s room and running around the playroom before creeping into Evie’s room to check she was sleeping soundly in her crib.

The attention to detail was impressive and the interactive stars used to unlock voice activations, visual displays and music and light shows throughout the hands-on journey kept both of my children engaged.

After exploring the house it was time to blast off on Grampy Rabbit’s rocket into a new dimension.

Autumn couldn’t wait to do the countdown and press ALL the buttons as we hurtled through space before arriving on the moon. The ‘moon’ room really had the wow factor with space hoppers, soft play and the chance to look around Rebecca Rabbit's space-themed gift shop.

Each area was packed with interactive experiences that worked well alongside the storytelling team. Although there were a few sound issues with the team's microphones, they did help bring the story to life.

It was then time to meet Peppa herself. My children eagerly queued up and couldn’t wait to give her a cuddle before handing over the heart decoration they had made for her.

We concluded the trip with a look around the gift shop before going over to the hotel for a debrief about our day.

Overall the adventure was a fun-filled few hours (worth noting the experience takes around 90 minutes) well curated and with some fantastic interactive opportunities along the way to help children make the most of it. It’s a must for Peppa fans.

Meanwhile the hotel is perfectly positioned, connected to the NEC Complex just a few minutes' walk away. Whilst maintenance work was being carried out in some of the communal areas we were impressed with the stunning interiors and comfortable rooms.

We stayed in a family room at the four-star hotel and enjoyed dinner in The Arbor whilst The Gild Lobby and Bar was undergoing refurbishment. We were also treated to a gorgeous breakfast before we departed.

Tickets are still on sale for Peppa Pig in Space
