Mansfield fitness studio to hold free 'Wellness Week' to banish lockdown blues

A Mansfield fitness centre is inviting the people of Mansfield and Ashfield to a free ‘Wellness Week’ to help combat the effects of lockdown.

Dominic and Ruby Witton, owners of RS Fitness Studios on Stockwell Gate in Mansfield are holding a Wellness Week alongside other health, fitness and wellness professionals in the area, to help folk improve their physical and mental wellbeing during the pandemic.

The free week-long event runs online from Monday, March 8 to Friday March 12, and features a combination of live classes, webinars and even a cook-along with a professional chef.

Dom said: “The aim for the wellness week is to give the local community something to look forward to, and also to learn about other local small independent businesses in the local area.

The wellness week schedule is as follows:

Monday, March 8: Pilates with Ruby, who will help and guide viewers through an extended pilates session while talking through the week ahead and what is to come.

Tuesday, March 9: Professional nutritionist Eva Humphries from Whole Food Warrior, based in Nottingham, will give a ‘fad-free’ webinar based on educating viewers about what "healthy" really is, backed by the latest scientific evidence - Eva will also look into diet myths and will empower attendees with realistic ways to change their eating habits for the better.

Wednesday, March 10: Chef Thomas William-Greig from ‘BRasian – at home’ will be doing a live cook-along with attendees, which aims to be fun and educational.

Thursday, March 11: Yoga with Sian Rowe from Iona Flows Yoga, who will take attendees through a 1 hour Power Yoga Flow - this class will generate heat in the body, strengthen the muscles and connect to your core. Using your breath to mindfully move through yoga asanas (poses), plus a tense and release meditation at the end of the practice.

Friday, March 12: Pain Free Living Webinar by Charlotte Kirkpatrick from CK Sports Massage Therapy, who will talk to attendees about the mobility and the benefits of stretching and treatments. Charlotte will also go over and give advice on how to live a more pain free lee and how to reduce your aches and pains.

Kaytie Chambers, medical director of MYLA Aesthetics based in Kirkby, is a recognised skin professional with Alumier MD and will be covering all skin-related issues and how to combat your concerns.

Lorna McKenna, from EVOLVE, will go through current issues and how to deal with struggles that many of us are currently facing. She will also go into detail about finding yourself and becoming a better version of you, and to promote a more positive and purposeful life.
