Suddenly, there’s a bigger choice of places to go and things to do across the Mansfield and Ashfield region and beyond.
As usual, this weekly guide aims to give you a steer, with ten ideas for the weekend.
Stags’ massive match at home to Northampton Town is obviously top of many people’s list. But you might also consider Easter holiday fun at places such as Rufford Abbey Country Park and Clumber Park, or trips to the White Post Farm Centre and Go Ape Sherwood Pines.
Mansfield’s Palace Theatre is hosting a show by a local dance school, while Newstead Abbey is hosting a horticultural talk and Welbeck Abbey a grand tour.
Please remember to check the websites of the individual venues for opening times and prices.
And if you know of events or activities that could be included in this guide in the coming weeks, please email me at [email protected]
Have a great weekend!

5. Step into Easter
The daffodils are beginning to emerge and Easter is not far away. You can discover the signs of spring at Clumber Park, where a host of nature-inspired activities are taking place from this weekend until Saturday, April 23. They include an Easter egg trail, a teddy bear's picnic on the parsonage lawn, board games and making crafts. Photo: Submitted
Nets Adventure is one of the most popular attractions in the Go Ape park at Sherwood Pines. Have fun in tree houses, netted walkways and bouncy nets full of inflatable balls, all 30 feet above the forest floor. You can also have a blast on the high ropes of the park's treetop adventure course, complete with Tarzan swings and epic zip-wires. Photo: Submitted
From foam parties to parents and tots skate sessions, the National Ice Centre in Nottingham has an awesome Easter holiday schedule lined up, starting on Saturday. It's an ideal time to build the confidence of your little ones on the ice because, during the sessions, the whole rink is given up exclusively for mums, dads and young children. Photo: Submitted
Take a peek inside a giant dinosaur egg or find the friendly Easter buddies hopping and skipping around. Just two of the family fun activities on offer at the Tropical Butterfly House wild.life and safari park in North Anston, near Sheffield from this Saturday until April 24. It's a bit out of our patch but well worth the petrol as the park also challenges visitors to find golden eggs hidden around the park and to tackle its adventure playground. Photo: Submitted
