5. Check out The Bottoms
Each week this year, we have turned the spotlight on one of Mansfield's many local nature reserves. This time, it's the turn of The Bottoms, which can be accessed along Netherfield Lane in Meden Vale. Follow the river as it meanders through the reserve, and although it's the hibernation season, don't be surprised if you spot anything from badgers and foxes to newts and water voles, as well as a host of birds. 6. Follow the art trail
A new, outdoor sculpture walking trail has opened at The Harley Gallery at Welbeck (pictured), thanks to a £60,000 grant. It takes families from contemporary art at the gallery itself, historic art at the nearby Portland Collection museum, and on to Britain's oldest cave art at Creswell Crags. 7. Enjoy panoramic view
If a competition was held for the best view in the Mansfield and Ashfield area, this would surely win it. From the summit of Silverhill Woods, near Teversal, on the site of the former Silverhill Colliery, you can see over five counties. A bronze statue of a miner with a Davy lamp is a tribute to the days when King Coal reigned across Nottinghamshire. Photo: Submitted
8. Sing those country hits again
Revive famous country hits by the likes of Dolly Parton (pictured), Johnny Cash, Kenny Rogers, Glen Campbell and Patsy Cline at Mansfield's Palace Theatre on Thursday night. For The Legends Of American Country Show, featuring four fantastic singers and a live band of musicians, take to the stage to have you hand-clapping and toe-tapping to Nashville and back.
