The not-for-profit Bentinck Miners Welfare on Sutton Road in Kirkby in Ashfield reopened its doors in July and is now putting on entertainment for the people of Nottinghamshire when a singalong duo will perform on Saturday afternoon, August 8, to raise funds for the charity.
This weekend is going to be a hot one, with highs of 23 degrees on Saturday afternoon, and what could be better to accompany it than a cold drink and some live entertainment?

John Taylor, a volunteer trustee of the charity, said: "We are trying to go for an event outside on a bowling green area that has been adapted to take customers at a social distance.
“The music is from Peter Keeling and Ann Thompson, and they are known as Side-kick.
"They are members of this welfare who have been dabbling with entertainment and what they said to me is, ‘we would love to try and do something to help the welfare sustain itself’, and I said that the best thing he could do is put us a show on, and that is what he is doing.”

John said: “They do across the range of music and styles, they are very versatile.
"They need promoting really because they are better than they think they are.
"This isn’t his business, this is a hobby, and people should be encouraged to do things out of their comfort zone, so I hope people come to support.

Families are also welcome, and people are encouraged to bring their own seats or picnic blankets to maintain social distancing and ensure as many people can enjoy the day as possible.
Bentick Miners Welfare has charity status and relies on events such as these to maintain running costs, as well as memberships.
Jon added: “We have got a membership that is fairly older and so we would love to get some new, younger members, and especially families.

"If they want to bring blankets there is plenty of room for everybody it is going to be nice and warm, and we are open both Saturday and Sunday so it would be great if people wanted to come down and visit on Sunday, too.”
