The spectacular show at Mansfield Town set the tone last night when the Stags all but signed Guy Fawkes to add some sparkle to their season.
And there will be more of the same over the next two or three evenings as thousands of us enjoy the fireworks and tuck in to our hot dogs, mushy peas, jacket spuds and bonfire toffee.
In our weekly ‘Things To Do At The Weekend’ guide, we’ve handpicked a few Bonfire Night events.
But there are other attractions taking place too, so check out our photo gallery to see what takes your fancy.

9. Surprise in store at care home
You wouldn't normally associate a care home with pyrotechnics. But you're in for a surprise if you visit Baily House on Botany Avenue in Mansfield on Friday. For the home hosts a Bonfire Night event from 5.30 pm, with face-painting, a tombola and raffles, as well as a fireworks display. It's open to everyone. Photo: Submitted

10. Winter craft fair at minster
Southwell Minster provides the ideal setting for its annual winter craft fair, which returns on Saturday (10 am to 4 pm) after being cancelled last year because of the pandemic. There will be about 75 stalls, selling a wide range of goods, including some in the stunning state chamber of the Archbishop's Palace next door to the minster. Photo: Submitted

11. Kafka classic at the theatre
Fans of Franz Kafka will surely be heading for Mansfield's Palace Theatre on Friday when a comic and gripping version of 'The Trial' takes centre stage. This satirical, absurdist take on today's world will have you laughing and terrified in equal measure as the concept of justice itself is put on trial. Photo: Submitted

12. Family night at the pub
One of the best bonfire and fireworks events this weekend promises to be at the Nag's Head pub in Pleasley. The popular, annual event for all the family is on Saturday from 6 pm. A spokesman says: "We will have a food stall, a sweets stall, a drinks stall and more. Everyone is welcome." Photo: Submitted
