IT’S still panto season ... oh yes it is! And to celebrate the opening of a new panto in Mansfield later this month, this week’s Chad - on sale on Wednesday - has got tickets to the Folkhouse’s seasonal offering as prizes in an easy to enter competition.
The Westfield Folkhouse Pantomime Group will conjour even more fun for all the family at Mansfield Palace Theatre from Saturday.
This year, it is the turn of the all-powerful genie and his magic lamp to grace the stage as the pantomime troupe heads east for the story of the pauper-turned-king Aladdin.
In this version, Widow Twankey is feeling the effects of the recession and business at her Chinese laundry is bad. Only her hard working and optimistic son, Aladdin, keeps her spirits up. But all this seems set to change as a mysterious stranger, apparently Aladdin’s long lost uncle, arrives with promises of wealth galore. All Aladdin must do is retrieve a dusty old lamp from a mysterious cave.
But when Aladdin tries to rub the dust from the lamp he accidentally awakens an ancient and all-powerful Genie, who can grant Aladdin anything his heart desires.
The story twists and turns until, in true pantomime style, everyone lives happily ever after.
As usual, the Westfield Folkhouse’s traditional family pantomime with its music, singing, dancing, comedy, and audience participation will offer something for all ages.
The pantomime runs from Saturday 14th January to the following Sunday, 22nd January at various times.
Tickets are £4.25, with concessions available from the box office on Mansfield 661052.
Chad has teamed up with pantomime organisers to give readers the chance to one won of two family tickets (five tickets each) to see Aladdin next Wednesday, 18th January.
For your chance to win, simply buy this week’s Chad and enter the easy-to-enter competition.
