Soul king Geno Washington at Mansfield Palace Theatre

Soul legend Geno Washington is bringing his famous Ram Jam Band to Mansfield’s Palace Theatre next week.

Geno had two of the biggest selling UK albums back then, both of which were live albums.

One of them ‘Hand Clappin, Foot Stompin, Funky Butt Live’, was in the album charts for 48 weeks in 1967 - a true indicator of Geno’s popularity as a live performer.

And Geno has not lost any of that connection with his audience despite the fact he is now approaching 70, and his new double live album - ‘It’s Geno Time!’ is an astonishing testament to this fact, as it is a faithful reproduction of that self same, high energy soul album ‘Hand Clappin, Foot Stompin, Funky Butt Live!

Supporting Geno and the Ram Jam Band will be ‘The Usual Suspects’.

This five piece blues/folk/R&B band are from Newark. Their music comprises original material with a range of classic covers from artists as diverse as Bob Dylan, JJ Cale and Thin Lizzy.

The show is on Wednesday 5th June at 7.30pm.
