ROCK-FOLK legend and frontman of The Levellers Mark Chadwick is rolling into Warsop on 19th May as part of his growing friendship with local group Ferocious Dog.
The folk outfit, who played two St Patrick’s Day gigs in Dubai last month, first started supporting the frontman last year.
A gig at the Town Mill in Mansfield featuring Mark and the band last November went down so well Mark asked to share a stage with them again, this time at the Black Market on High Street, Warsop.
“Because we’re also a folk band and we write our own songs I think he likes our style,” said Ferocious Dog violinist Dan Booth.
“He’s brilliant and very chilled out. He’s up for making the crowd have a good night and when we played at the Town Mill with him it went down a storm.”
Ferocious Dog’s fortunes have begun to lift since they first developed a relationship with The Levellers last year.
The Warsop-based modern folk group has six members and recently recorded an EP.
Their fan base has grown and gigs in Dubai introduced them internationally, with other dates arranged this year including the Bearded Theory Festival in Kedleston Park, Derbyshire, which runs from 13th to 15th May.
“There are 500 tickets for the gig on the 19th and we’re confident we can sell them all,” added Dan.
“A lot of what’s happened in the last year or so has come through the links with people like Mark.
“It’s great and helps get our name out there.”
Ferocious Dog will support Mark who will play his own set before joining them for a few songs on the night.
l Tickets for the 19th May gig at the Black Market in Warsop are £10 each via levellers.co.uk, emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or can be bought direct from the Black Market.
