SOME of the most renowned names in contemporary folk music are set to headline at this year’s Gate to Southwell Folk Festival.
Oysterband, Show of Hands, Eliza Carthy and Jim Moray and Home Service have been revealed as the headline acts at the popular festival which will take place in June.
The festival bill also includes folk stars such as Lucy Ward, the newly-reformed Faustus and double act Tim Edey and Brendan Power.
Festival director Mike Kirrage said: “We’ve got the absolute cream of English folk appearing in Southwell in June 2013.
“It’s a growing family-orientated event, set in a beautiful location, that attracts great musicians to the East Midlands. It gives a welcome tourist boost to the local community and continues to promote Southwell’s development as a cultural centre.”
There will be music events throughout Southwell during the long weekend, including in the Minster and concerts in the marquees on the festival site next to the National Trust Workhouse.
There is also an open mic stage, children’s entertainment, ceilidhs, street theatre, food and drink stalls and dancers.
Early Bird discounted festival tickets are on sale from now until 28th February. For more details visit www.southwellfolkfestival.org.uk, call (01636) 816678 or email email@example.com.
