Gareth Gates headlines Party in the Park in Mansfield this weekend

Pop star Gareth Gates will be headlining Mansfield’s annual Party in the Park festival in Titchfield Park.

The festival is the largest event in Mansfield District Council’s Summer in the Streets programme and is set to draw in thousands with the announcement that pop star Gareth Gates will be performing live on the night.

Hosted at Titchfield Park, the free event will be taking place on Saturday from 12noon to 9pm.

Gareth will be supported by professional tribute act Beth McCann with her Best of the Brits show including tracks by Duffy, Lady Gaga and KT Tunstall.

Local acts have also been given the opportunity to showcase their talents by applying to perform.

As well as live music entertainment, Party in the Park will again feature a wide variety of children’s entertainment, stalls and fairground rides on the meadow area.

It also features crazy golf, archery, donkey rides and face painting.

Executive Mayor, Tony Egginton, said: “We want Party in the Park to be a real summer celebration for Mansfield so families and friends can come together to enjoy a great day out.

“I am sure that this year’s event will be as popular as ever. A date not to be missed – so mark your calendar

“I’m particularly excited to see the range of local acts that will be performing on the day. Mansfield is home to many talented people and it’s great that they will have an opportunity to show what they can do.”

Nick Turner, Town Centre Manager at Mansfield District Council, said: “We’re really pleased that Gareth Gates will be joining us at this year’s Party in the Park and I’m sure lots of people will be really keen to see him perform.

“This is a family friendly event which will offer a bit of something for everyone. Gareth’s performance will be a great end to our day of summer celebration.”

Alcohol cannot be brought into the park but an enclosed onsite bar will be available.

Emma Sowter, Mansfield District Council’s, Events and Promotions Co-ordinator, said: “We’re really looking forward to this year’s programme of events which we hope will really bring the seaside fun into the heart of Mansfield. It will be a real treat for all the family and of course, it’s free.”
