When does Grand Theft Auto VI come out now?
The game was originally announced with a 2025 release date, but that had already been changed to May 2026. However, in a surprise announcement today (November 6), Rockstar revealed that it had pushed back to the end of the year.
Grand Theft Auto VI will now come out on Thursday, November 19, 2026. It means the game is now more than a year away again.
In a post on social media, Rockstar explained: “Hi everyone, Grand Theft Auto VI will now release on Thursday, November 19, 2026.
“We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.
“We want to thank you again for your patience and support. While the wait is a little longer, we are incredibly excited for players to experience the sprawling state of Leonida and a return to modern day Vice City. Sincerely, Rockstar Games.”
It is not unheard of for Rockstar to delay games multiple times. Red Dead Redemption 2 was delayed first from 2017 then to late 2018.
