Forget the January blues - if it’s an evening of fun and laughter you’re after, head to Nottingham’s Royal Concert Hall to see Priscilla Queen of the Desert - the Musical.
Get ready for the most flamboyant bus ride of your life as Aussie legend Jason Donovan stars as Tick and his alter-ego Mitzi in a story of three drag queens heading to the unknown of Alice Springs away from the safe bright lights of Sydney.
Alongside wild child Adam/Felicia (Robin Mills) and drag veteran Bernadette (Simon Green), Tick’s mission is to drive across Australia to see wife Marion (Naomi Slights) and estranged son Benji (Toby Gretton/William Rhead).
Based on the smash-hit movie, there’s a real feel-good factor to this show, with a quite heartwarming plot hidden behind all the glitz and glamour.
Hopping on their battered old bus Priscilla, the trio and their hilarious mix of personalities make their way through the desert and face an array of weird encounters which lead to some beautiful moments, especially with the blossoming relationship between Bernadette and Bob the mechanic.
You’re sure to be clapping and tapping your way through the iconic songs performed brilliantly by Donovan and the hugely talented cast. Classic dance floor hits include Downtown, I Will Survive, Hot Stuff, Boogie Wonderland and Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, with Tick marking the end of his journey with an emotional rendition of Always on Mind.
