Theatre stars to join Amber Davies in Legally Blonde the Musical on Nottingham stage

Top West End talents will be joining Strictly star Amber Davies in Legally Blonde the Musical when it runs in Nottingham in May.

The feelgood rom-com, based on the award-winning film starring Reese Witherspoon, follows Elle Woods on her transformation from ‘It Girl’ fashionista to legal ace at Harvard Law School, all in the name of love. Elle must prove she is more than blonde ambition, swap the changing rooms for the courtroom and learn that “being true to yourself never goes out of style”.

It was announced last year that Elle would be played by Amber Woods – who went on to become a finalist in the last series of Strictly Come Dancing.

The producers of Legally Blonde have now revealed that musical theatre and TikTok star Hannah Lowther (whose credits include Six in the West End) will play Margot and ‘Alternate Elle Woods’, taking the role of Elle Woods Amber Davies is not performing.

They star alongside performers including George Crawford (The Great Gatsby, London Coliseum) as Emmett, Karen Mavundukure (Stranger Things, West End; Dreamgirls, West End) as Paulette and Adam Cooper (A Chorus Line, Sadler’s Wells; Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake, Sadler’s Wells) as Callahan.

The multi-award-winning musical features original music and lyrics by Laurence O’Keefe and Nell Benjamin and a book by Heather Hach, based on the novel Legally Blonde by Amanda Browning and the much-loved 2001 film of the same name.

Legally Blonde the Musical runs at the Theatre Royal from Tuesday May 19 to Saturday May 23. Visit www.trch.co.uk or call 0115 989 5555 to book.
