Punk outfit Hung like Hanratty are back with new album

Controversial Mansfield punk rock band, Hung Like Hanratty, have signed for renowned independent label Flicknife Records and released a new album 50 Shades.

The band are building up a good following for their hilarious live shows and hope the CD will go down well with their ‘friend base’ as they call their fans.

Singer Al Sation, of Sutton, said: “Flicknife have won awards as a top label. It’s a renowned label worldwide featuring many big band such as Hawkwind.

“We sent three demo tracks which they liked, then they offered us a deal, and now we are proud to be part of the Flicknife family.

“Our main influences are 1977 punk bands like Pork Dukes, The Damned and the Sex Pistols.

“We are controversial, but we have gigs coming out of our ears.

“We have been arrested a few times, but people enjoy us. It is fun and we make people smile.”

Along with Al, the current line-up sees Valium, of Sutton, on lead guitar/vocals, Tez Tickle, from Heanor, on bass, Alex Trician, from

Kirkby, on drums, and Asa Spades, from Arnold, on rhythm guitar.

The band, who have a controversial past, reformed with a totally new line up in 2012 – and it has paid off.

The band have worked hard writing songs about every day life, but in a comical way, and released their first very successful album Human Pig on Underdogz Records in 2014, before currently becoming one of the busiest bands on the circuit.

“We believe in punk rock,” said Al. “We support other bands buy CDs, and go to gigs. My house is a shrine to punk - to us it’s a way of

life.”
