Peter Pan review: Mansfield charity troupe soars to new heights in 40th anniversary show

It took 40 years for the theatre group to take on J. M. Barrie’s classic tale of the boy who would not grow up. And you can see why.

You heard the little ones in the audience at Mansfield Palace Theatre “wow” when Peter Pan first flew across the stage.

Adam Brownley, who played the mischievous Peter also put on a sometime acrobatic display summersalting through the air over his fellow cast.

The audience was also entertained by mystical bangs, fireworks and a sassy Tinkerbell, played by Jasmine Partrigde, on a pair of Heelys.

And, it is all for charity since 1980 the theatre troupe has raised more than £140,000 for charities in the area, last year a staggering £10,000 was raised.

Having seen Cinderella in 2018 by the troupe, one newcomer to my eyes, Selina Payne who played Mrs Darling, dazzled the audience with her heart-warming vocals.

As usual Adam Brownley and Sarah Clark, who played Wendy were enchanting with their vocals and Martin Killick’s performance as Captain Hook was simply theatrical.

All in all the cast gave a simply unmissable performance and left the audience saying that they do believe in fairies.

The show is on at the Leeming Street theatre from Monday, January 27 to Friday, January 31 at 7.15pm and showing at 2.15pm and 7.15pm on Saturday, February 1.

An adult ticket costs £10 and a child ticket costs £8, not including fees.
