Musicals galore for fans to enjoy at venues in the area

Fans of sparkling and memorable musicals will be well catered for during the remainder of this year at Nottingham Theatre Royal and Nottingham Playhouse.

The rescheduled performances of Heathers The Musical can be seen at Nottingham Theatre Royal from August 31 to September 4.

Following two smash hit West End seasons and an award for Best New Musical, Heathers The Musical, the black comedy rock musical based on the eponymous 1988 film, embarks on its first national tour.

In the show, Westerberg High’s Veronica Sawyer is just another nobody dreaming of a better day.

But when she joins the beautiful and impossibly cruel Heathers and her dreams of popularity may finally come true, mysterious teen rebel JD teaches her that it might kill to be a nobody, but it is murder being a somebody.

Before then, there’s the chance to enjoy West End Leading Ladies – On Demand as part of Nottingham Playhouse’s Spring Loaded season.

This uplifting celebration of musical theatre will be available online until May 25.

Join West End leading ladies Rosalie Craig, Sandra Marvin, Sara Poyzer and Jodie Prenger (who joins via video link) as they perform a programme of the songs which made their careers.

The show features classics such as Tonight (West Side Story), Maybe This Time (Cabaret) and As Long As He Needs Me (Oliver!), alongside new favourites I Didn’t Plan It (Waitress) and With You (Ghost).

The smash-hit 90s movie is now a brand new musical comedy and you’re invited.

Fiery food critic Julianne Potter has always turned her nose up at romance. It’s the reason she broke up with her sweetheart Michael O’Neal.
