The Legend of King Arthur

Oddsocks Productions take classic texts and create bold, innovative and interactive theatre to be enjoyed by all. They tell good stories, in exciting ways, and have been touring for 25 years.

Oddsocks are bringing their ambitious re-telling of classic English tale The Legend of King Arthur to Mansfield Palace Theatre on Friday February 12. Expect vibrant characters, live music and laughter-a-plenty!

Prior to the start of the show, cast members will be found strolling amongst the audience, chatting to them and playing folk music on acoustic lutes and guitars. Cast and audience interplay is very much a part of the show, which opens with an energy and sense of humour that continues throughout, delivering some real laugh-out-loud moments and a sense of merriment. All of the major plot-points of the myths and legends surrounding King Arthur are included, from idealist Arthur hefting Excalibur from the stone and a brilliantly executed battle scene with the dragon, to the romantic scenes between Arthur and Guinevere.

The performance will be unashamedly pantomime-esque but there are enough innuendos to keep the adults giggling, without compromising the show’s family-friendly credentials.

Elli Mackenzie, the writer of Oddsocks’ production of The Legend of King Arthur is playing the wicked Morgan Le Fey. She said: “It’s such an exciting story to share, it has it all! A hero, love and romance, dragons, fight scenes, glory, history and of course, humour.”
