Check out Summer Sounds concert

Three tribute bands perform the hits of Motown and superstars Take That and Rod Stewart at this year's Summer Sounds concert in Victoria Park, Ilkeston, on Sunday, July 31.

Erewash Borough Council says the trio of tributes will also joined by local band Rocks n Frocks.

The event will run from 3pm to 7pm and will also offer all the usual family fun and attractions - with admission, activities and the live concert all totally free.

Admission, activities and the live concert are all totally free. There will be catering outlets at the event or you can take your picnic in the Green Flag park.

Among the fun-filled entertainment on offer ahead of the concert is balloon modelling, face painting, RSPB wildlife activities and a bird display, while the Ilkeston History Society and Ilkeston Lions will also be in attendance.

Mayor of Erewash, Councillor Abey Stevenson, will open the afternoon’s entertainment at 3pm.

Councillor Mike Wallis, Erewash Borough Council’s lead member for culture and leisure, said: “What better way to spend a summer Sunday than with family and friends at this fabulous and free event that has become a firm favourite with the hundreds of people who go along every year to enjoy a family day out.

“Put the date in your diary, pack a picnic, take along a chair – and blanket and umbrella just in case – and have a great afternoon of musical entertainment.”
