Young Mansfield bowler strikes tournament win

Mansfield Youth Bowling Club's Harrison Smith struck gold in this year's finals at Mansfield Superbowl.

The 11-year-old won the tournament for his division - not bad considering he has been bowling for less than a year. Club secretary Samantha Watson said: “He comes to our YBC whenever he can and has progressed extremely well, to win his first ever tournament is a massive achievement.

“We as a club are very proud of Harrison and would like to congratulate him on winning his first tournament.”

“We hope with continued effort more of our members will be able to compete for and win honours at tournaments in the future. We tell them it is possible, now they can see for themselves that it really is.”

Mansfield Youth Bowling Club is the only children’s tenpin bolwing club in the district.

On Saturday 8th September it is holding a free morning event from 9.30am-12pm to urge people to join their club.

“Our club is all about giving young people a safe and happy environment to learn how to bowl properly and have some fun in the process,” said Samantha. “We have qualified instructors on hand every week who provide free coaching for all our club members, no matter what their ability levels are.

“Our members earn badges for achieving target scores, which they keep as a memento to show how much they have improved.”
