Wembley beckons for Samuel Barlow youngsters

Footballers from Samuel Barlow Primary School in Clipstone will play at Wembley having reached the national final of the Football League Kids Cup.

Their journey began in November when they entered an FA U11 tournament run by Mansfield Town and in the eventual final in January they beat Croft School 1-0.

That put them into the regional finals in March and a trip to Morecambe where they topped their group thanks to wins against Notts County, Hartlepool and Northampton.

A semi-final win over Accrington Stanley followed before an extra-time win over Morecambe in the final, securing their place at Wembley on May 30 in the national final.

In a trip paid for by the FA, they will travel to London the previous day and then step out to play their match before the League Two play-off final.
