Wayne Cookes up the winner to keep Selston top of the table

Selston remain top of the Notts Senior League on goal difference after beating PMG Cavaliers 1-0 on Saturday.

Wayne Cooke headed home a Dan Evans free-kick early in the second-half to seal the points, Cavaliers having a man sent off five minutes from time.

Second-placed Wollaton have three games in hand and are level on points having also won, with West Bridgford third having also played three games fewer than Selston.

In Division One, Underwood Villa were held to a 2-2 draw away at Gedling Southbank and are now nine points behind leaders Newark Flowserve and with three games in hand.

Awsworth Villa Reserves remain rooted to the bottom of Division One, however, as they were hammered 8-1 at Ruddington Village Reserves, Luke Grinham scoring the solitary Villa goal.

Watnall Athletic remain on top of Division Two after they won 3-2 at Newark Town Reserves thanks to goals from Joe Brookes, Ryan Cooke and Martin Ward.

Sides below Watnall still have games in hand, however.

They include Kimberley Miners Welfare AFC, who were taking a break from league action as they instead took on FC Coopers in the semi-final of the NFA Junior Cup, running out impressive 5-2 winners to progress to the final.
