The East Midlands Junior Series consists of nine races held across the region between April and September.

Competitors take part in age group races and pick up points depending on their placing at each race. Each competitor’s top four scores are combined to produce an overall score in the series, with a maximum score of 4000 possible.

In the boys’ Tristart category Jack Mottram took second overall, missing out on first place by just one point.

Daisy Wilson was third in the Tristart girls’ series in her first full year of racing.

Matthew Woodhall achieved second in the boys’ Tri Star 1 category with a score just 2 per cent below the category winner.

In the hotly-contested boys’ Tri Star 2 series, Kieran Smith scored just 17 points below the eventual winner to cement his position in the East Midlands Inter-Regional Championship team.

In the 15-19 year-old senior series, Jordan Boam took first overall to add to his two national medals, the Midlands sprint triathlon series title and East Midlands off-road duathlon series age group win plus his qualification for the European standard distance duathlon championships in 2015.

Also, Emelia Osborne and Chris Green both achieved fifth place in the youth category, the highest combined placing ever achieved by the club in this category.

Club secretary Claire Allison said: “This has been our best ever year of racing and is just reward for the hard work and commitment of all our young athletes, the fantastic support offered by the parents and the dedication and skill of our talented coaching team.

“An important component of this success has been the grants we have received to help with club development, so we must acknowledge the support we have had from Nottinghamshire County Council’s Legacy Fund and Community Sports fund which allowed us to buy specialist coaching and racing equipment and to invest in additional coaching and the support of Sport England via the Lottery Fund which has allowed us to invest in specialist cycle coaching.”

The young triathletes picked up their awards at a prize giving ceremony at Triathlon England’s headquarters in Loughborough.
