Sutton third in county gala

A team of eight boys and eight girls all between eight years and 11 years of age represented Sutton Swimming Club in the Nottinghamshire ASA Stage 1 Trophy gala at the Lammas Leisure Centre.

Sutton finished an impressive third on the night and collected the third place trophy with a total of 172 gala points.

Winners were Kimberley SC with 198 points and runners-up Bramcote SC with 177.

The Sutton team comprised four swimmers making their gala debuts in Tobey Smith (8), Isabelle Berta (8), Rhyanne Pascoe (8) and Libby Dove (9), who all performed superbly on the night.

Two of the team secured personal victories with Keira Dobbs (9) winning all three of her individual events and Matthew Woodhall (10) winning both of his individual events.

The girls 8/9yrs old medley relay team of Libby Dove (9), Isabelle Berta (8), Keira Dobbs (9) and Rhyanne Pascoe (8) also took first place on the night.

Sutton swimmers also achieved 15 new personal best times on the night with two each for Isabelle Berta (8), Michael Senior (10yrs), Jack Berta (11yrs), Tobey Smith (8yrs), Alice Jones (10yrs), Spike Atkinson (11), Rhyanne Pascoe (8), plus one each for Tom Polley (9), Keira Dobbs (9) and Owen Wing (9).

The other Sutton swimmers contributing to the team success on the night were Adam Read (9), Talitha Oud (10), Ellie Bunker (11) and Ellethea Hawley (11).

A club spokesman said: “The future of Sutton Swimming Club is in safe hands with these youngsters all demonstrating their ability and passion for competitive swimming this evening. They fully deserved the third place trophy.”
