Sutton swimmers stay top with late burst of wins

Sutton Swimming Club stayed top of Division Three after winning round four of the six-round Sports Centre League at Hucknall Leisure Centre.

On the night Sutton had a close battle with Kimberley, but Sutton grew stronger as the competition progressed and had a fantastic run of results which culminated in them winning the last five events, which were all relays, including the grand finale Cannon.

In the end Sutton won on the night quite comfortably beating Kimberley who were second by 22 points.

Full results - 1st, Sutton 225 points, 2nd Kimberley 203, 3rd Sherwood B 181, 4th Portland 142, 5th Mansfield B 122, 6th, Hucknall & Linby 61.

Sutton Swimming Club also retained their Michael Doughty Trophy as they hosted the gala at the Lammas Leisure Centre.

Sutton were down by 11 points after 12 events to Radford SC and were still six points down at the halfway stage.

Again the Sutton team picked up as the competition progressed with some great individual swims and team relay efforts seeing them finish superbly with six firstt places in a row at one stage.

After winning the final Cannon event, Sutton SC retained the trophy with 220 points. Radford SC finished second with 209, Kimberley were third with 163, Southwell fourth with 152 and Portland sixth with 132.

On the night some 10 personal best times were recorded by Sutton SC swimmers.
