Sutton SC promotion glory in Sports Centre League

Sutton Swimming Club’s fine run of form continued with glory in the final event of the Sports Centre League at Hucknall Leisure Centre.

In the sixth and final round of the 2013 competition, Sutton secured their promotion to Division Two with another fine team performance.

On the night Sutton came from behind at the half way stage to run out winners by securing 18 wins from the 45 events. This meant Sutton had won five out of the six rounds and amassed an impressive 35 points out of 36 available.

In 2014 the Sutton Club will now compete in Division 2 against fresh opposition including Calverton and Bingham SC, Carlton Forum SC, Arnold SC, Nottingham Leander SC and Falcon SC.

Club chairman Andy Quinn said: “The team have performed superbly over six testing rounds and have truly earned their success.

“All the swimmers that have participated in this competition for Sutton have contributed superbly.

“The club continues to grow and we have significantly increased our membership numbers from children between six and 10 of age.

“Our teaching and coaching programme continues to pay dividend with some talented youngsters being identified as real prospects for the future. “
