Sutton gym celebrates success at Mansfield Sport Recognition Awards

Sutton’s Revolution gym fared well at the Mansfield Sport Recognition Awards with Revolution winning the Team of the Year award and Head Coach Neil Huntley being named Coach of the Year.
Rising MMA star Will Bingham was also delighted to receive a mayor’s commendation for his commitment.
“These achievements are a team effort,” said Huntley. “Many thanks to my fellow coaches who offer unwavering support and especially my right-hand man Tyrone Robinson without whom none of this would happen. Tyrone is head assistant coach here and member of the GB Taekwondo Academy.
"The awards confirm just what Revolution is and how hard work and consistency pay off. I’m proud that we’ve created a facility allowing fighters to train seven days a week and achieve in boxing, kickboxing and MMA on major promotions. The awards are on show now in our gym reception showing the quality of our coaching and our students.”

“I’m particularly proud of Will achieving his formal commendation in the year in which he turned eighteen. Will is completely dedicated and this year he has extended his range of combat sports disciplines to include boxing, grappling and jiu-jitsu as well as having now won three of four amateur MMA bouts. This is what can be achieved by a teenage athlete with the right mindset who’s determined to benefit from the high-quality coaching on offer.”
“This year has been massive for me across all my sports,” said Bingham. “In March I won the War of Warriors European semi-pro K1 title, then in May two gold medals in Hungary at the WFC World Combat Sports Championships. Our gym took first place out of 62 that entered. We were the only English gym competing but ensured England was second in the medal table. In June I got a boxing win on my home show, and in July I competed in my first jiu-jitsu tournament where I came away with a gold and a silver. I then fought at BMF 12 and lost by decision but learned loads from it and returned stronger in October with a submission win at BMF 14.”
“Achieving the Mayor’s Commendation meant so much to me. I’m only 18 and still learning every day, so this recognition motivates me to push even harder. I’m grateful to everyone who supports me, especially Neil, my other coaches, teammates, family, friends and all my sponsors. I’m excited to see how far I can go from here.”
Huntley plays a crucial role in the lives of all at Revolution. “We appreciate all he does,” said Vicky Kitchen whose son Joseph, 15, “has found where he belongs at Revolution. Neil’s more than a coach, he’s a loyal friend and provides a safe, welcoming place where all can focus on their training. Joseph has benefitted immeasurably.”

Joseph himself commends Huntley for being “a great coach who helps me out with stuff both in the gym and outside always giving me quality advice as he pushes me to improve. Will Bingham’s a sound role model. He works hard, trains hard and gives great advice as a fighter and friend. Us younger fighters all look up to him.”
2025 has been a busy, eventful and hugely successful year for Revolution. The new Skegby premises opened in March after a six-month refurbishment. The fight team’s success in Hungary in May was followed by successful home shows in June and October. In addition to receiving Mansfield Sports Recognition Awards for Team and Coach of 2025, Neil also won the Nottingham BBC Making a Difference Award for his work in the sport.
The last outing of 2025 saw 5 team members participate in the BMF 15 at Barnsley, with Jude Stevenson winning the BMF title belt by third round stoppage, Dylan Hart, Revolution’s MMA Coach winning by submission, Connor Severn winning his debut by stoppage, Tyler Spencer winning by unanimous decision in a K1 bout and Cody Elliott putting on a warrior performance after stepping up a weight class. Setting up Revolution ABC early in 2026 will allow the boxing element of the gym to become part of England Boxing’s formal amateur structure giving boxers a clear pathway to train, compete, and develop.
Huntley wants to express specific thanks to “all who’ve helped Revolution succeed this year including but aren’t limited to Claire Bingham, Tyrone Robinson, Dylan Hart, Lee Fell, Taylor Brown, Sam Dundar, Will Bingham, Louie Mallatratt and junior coaches Daisy Fisher, Tayla Williams, Joseph Kitchen and Dylan Griffin, as well as our sponsors, Kudos Kitchens, Fire Sec Installations, SP Sports Massage, MACAW Security, Suite Designs, Cody Elliott Painting and Decorating, Dan Canlin Plastering, H&A, Smart Aluminium, Oscroft Plumbing, Fluid Air-conditioning, Bluelines Roofing, SPG, Asylum Skate Park, AHBS, Tyrone Robinson Coaching, ONETEK, AIPS and HSL Construction Ltd.”
The 2025 Sports Recognition Awards were again funded by The Armchair Club founded in 1982 when six Mansfield area businesspeople came together to promote local sporting and athletic talent.
