The Hitmen will give a debut to new signing James Cockle, who has replaced David Wallinger in the side, while Corban Pavitt makes a welcome return to action after being out injured.

Buxton will continue to operate the rider replacement facility for the injured Connor Coles.

Birmingham have their own injury problems with the West Midlands outfit using rider replacement for the injured Danyon Hume and Danny Ayres coming in to guest for James Shanes, who is also missing with Layne Cupitt having retired also.

The Brummies are led into action by Tom Bacon, and he will be well supported by Ayres and teenager Leon Flint, who has moved into the main body of the side, after some very impressive performances this season, with Callum Walker completing the top five.

William O’Keefe takes one of the reserve positions while the Brummies are still to name the final remaining place.

The Brummies are vying for top spot in the group against their arch-enemies Cradley and will be hoping to take all four points available.

Hitmen team manager Joshua Moss said: “We are in no doubt that this will be a difficult meeting, especially with Birmingham looking to top the group.

“But if we can ride as we did against Belle Vue in our last home meeting we might just surprise them.

“We have strengthened the side with James Cockle coming in and we also welcome Corban Pavitt back into the side after injury which should also help us out at reserve, so hopefully we can sneak a win out of the meeting.

“We ran the Colts extremely closely and gave them a fright so who knows what can happen on the day?”
