Skegness success for local bowlers

Warsop couple Dave and Terri Wombell teamed up with Dave Pashley of Mansfield to win the open triples, sponsored by Annandale Caravan Park, at Skegness Over 55 Bowls Tournament.

The final was close early on but they eventually ran out winners by seven shots.

They received £250 each and a much coveted Jolly Fisherman figurine apiece.

The runners-up were skipped by Kirkby bowler Denis Baxter and contained former Mansfield resident Ken Bradley. Their third player was Northern Ireland’s Ron McKitterick. They received £125 each and a trophy each.

The Skegness Over 55 Bowls Tournament welcomes players from across the country.

The competition is broken down into the following categories: open singles, open pairs and open rinks of three.

The matches are played on the North and South greens along the Skegness foreshore.

The tournament has over £4,000 in prize money and the Jolly Fisherman figurines.
