Sherwood SC’s double-winning start to new season

Sherwood Colliery Swimming Club put their summer break well and truly behind them by winning both of the new season’s first competitions held at Retford and Water Meadows.

With both events being held on the same evening, two competing squads were under added pressure with many swimmers having to compete in multiple events both in and above their own age groups.

At Retford, the squad successfully defended Newark Swimming Club’s annual Simeon Hansard Trophy for the 12th time, while at Water Meadows the black & gold colours also successfully defended Mansfield Swimming Club’s Mary Whiting Trophy for the second year running, holding off strong squads from Nottingham Leader, Mansfield and Arnold.

With some good, solid individual and team relay performances at both events, the club are now looking forward to the new season’s competition schedule including their own, Level One Robin Hood Open Meet at Ponds Forge at the beginning of October.
