Selston FC seek volunteers as NSL club aims to grow

Notts Senior League side Selston are searching for volunteers as the club aims to continue growing.

Formed in 1968 and based at the Parish Hall ground in Selston, the club now boasts two men’s teams, seven junior teams and a soccer school.

The men’s first team are current champions of the Notts Senior League whilst the veteran’s team (over 40s) play in the East Midlands Veterans league on Sundays. The junior teams play at U7, U9, U12, U14, U16 (two teams) and U18 across the weekend in various local leagues.

The club also runs a soccer school for 4-7-year-olds and all coaches involved with U18s are checked by the Disclosure and Barring service (formerly CRB)

Development officer Jay Clifford said: “The club is powered by an energetic and passionate committee, some of whom have been involved for over 20 years.

“However, we are always on the lookout for new volunteers and would welcome anyone who wants to get involved, whether just on match day with preparing nets and pitches and helping on the tea bar or on a coaching level.

“We will fully support anyone in any role and will facilitate training as necessary.

“We are particularly looking for someone to help with our soccer school and someone to get a girls team in operation. We know there are local girls interested in football but we currently have nobody who can operate the team.”

Anyone interested in volunteering can contact Jay Clifford on 07973 364188.
