Seaman sails home in pool finals at home venue

Over-40s world and European champion Seaman beat Jon Hartley, from Sutton, 4-1 in the final after beating Craig Lakin, one of the best players in the country, by the same score in the semi-finals in semi finals.

Seaman was on fire on finals day as he also won the over-40s singles, seeing off last year’s winner Gaz Casterton 3-0 in the final.

Pairs winners were Ash Walker and Jimmy Hallam, beating 12-year-old Jacob Elmhirst and Chris Winter 3-0 in final. Jacob and Chris did so well on the day that they beat three other pairs to get to the final including the higly-rated pair of Gaz Casterton and Brett Crawford 3-0 in the semi-finals.

The capped singles was won by Wayne Glover, beating Tim Hurst 4-1. Wayne played well all day but had a very hard semi-final when he got the better of highly-rated 14-year-old Greg Davis 4-3, after being 3-1 down at one stage.

The U23 singles was won by Craig Lakin, seeing off the up and coming player Luke Wriggleworth 4-2.

With over 50 people there for finals day, it underlined just how big blackball pool is now becoming in the county these days.
