Clipstone held firm for 40 minutes but the floodgates opened soon after when the home side got their noses in front, in front of 327 at the DSM Memorial Ground.

Blessing Adeleye had an early sight of goal for Clipstone, shooting wide of the post after a strong run into the box, but that was as good as it got for the visitors.

Following a delay in play for a head injury to Clipstone’s Alfie Gaughan, the Cobras defence switched off when defending a corner and Brett Lovell heads the ball back across the area where Tom Brennan heads home from six yards.

A second goal is conceded on the stroke of half-time from a corner when Lovell forces his way through a group of players to be first to the ball and head home from close range.

Ball saved well to deny Kieran Ryan before the resulting in-swinging corner caused havoc in the Cobras’ box and Ryan heads home from close range for number three.

Penistone grabbed a fourth when a corner is not cleared properly and when the ball comes back into the box Ryan Johnson drilled the loose ball home.
