Ravenshead Rebels keep up perfect record

Rebels seem to thrive in the Divisional Cup format, where teams play six singles and three doubles rather than the traditional nine singles and one doubles.

In the main league the Rebels are second from bottom with only two wins in eight,

But they beat Jacksdale D 6-3 to remain unbeaten in the Division Cup this week to make it making it four wins out of four.

Rebels won all three of the doubles, which ended up being the difference on the night.

Although they have won all their matches they remain in second as Snipers of St Joseph’s are four points above them in the league, but the reason for this is Snipers have played one game extra.

Snipers beat Ravenshead Ravens this week by the same 6-3 scoreline. This was a real battle where every match could have easily gone either way.

Two notable games, which probably swung the result, was Tony Swain coming back from 2-0 and then 10-7 down in the fifth against Phil Parkin.

Phil couldn’t convert any of his three match points and Tony won the fifth 12-10.

The match of the night though was between Andy Bunting and Jim Westwood as both veteran players rolled back the years. Jim finally won 12-10 in the fifth in a great match.

In other results Angels beat Spin Doctors 5-4 and River Maun beat Hucknall 50+ 7-2, with Michael Jarunek claiming the player-of-the-match with two 3-0 single victories.

This result puts River Maun in a position that, if they win their remaining three games, they have a chance at overtaking the Snipers and the Rebels at the top.
