Wolverhampton 8.20 WIN

Another day of modest fare, but if you’re prepared to wait until the last race, deep into the night on Wolverhampton’s new Tapeta surface, you might be rewarded. Given his physique as a handsome, scopy sprinter, it is a bit of a mystery that Stuart Williams’s three-year-old gelding has not won in ten starts since he landed a gamble on his debut last November. But there were strong signs at Sandown last time that he is finally learning to settle in his races, and first-time blinkers, combined with a slight step-up in trip, could be a further boost tonight in what is a very ordinary handicap. The fact that both trainer and jockey (the brilliant Oisin Murphy) boast a one-in-four strike-rate at the track can only help further.
