Not long now until Longchamp’s blockbusting card on Sunday featuring arguably the biggest race of the whole year, the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe. But before then, Ascot and Newmarket stage some mouthwatering action of their own, with this competitive sprint handicap for three-year-olds being the highlight of today’s card on the Heath. Favourite TELMEYD is sure to be a warm order and is expected to reverse Shergar Cup form here in August with the admirably consistent GOLDEN STEPS. But I’m taking them both to be trumped by Chris Wall’s son of Intikhab, who produced a slick, career-best performance when dropped to this 6f trip last time. He’s up another 9lb, which means his mark is a whopping 27lb higher than only three starts ago. But Wall is a dab-hand with progressive types like this, especially at the backend of the season.
