Here is my main selection for today’s racing:

Monday 6th October

ROCKY RIDER

Windsor 2.20 WIN

Opposing a favourite trained by Richard Hannon and ridden by Richard Hughes in a two-year-old maiden at Windsor might normally be viewed as the fastest route to the workhouse. But there are sound reasons for believing Andrew Balding’s expensive, well-bred son of Galileo has much more improvement in him than Hannon’s colt, HARBOUR PATROL, who has looked nothing out of the ordinary in three starts. Balding holds his horse in high regard -- and we found out why on his debut at Haydock last month when, under a quiet educational ride in a decent contest, he ran on nicely behind a couple of smart sorts after meeting with interference in the home straight. Eventually, he will want much further than this 1m, but his class should see him home today.
