RACELINE: Tip of the day Sunday 13th January

Snow is on its way across most of the country, so it’s fingers crossed today’s meetings get the go-ahead.

Sunday January 13

CORRIN WOOD

Kelso 1.50 WIN

On already heavy ground, this extended 2m6f trip on one of the stiffest tracks in the country is sure to take some getting for inexperienced novice hurdlers. But that shouldn’t bother Donald McCain’s five-year-old grey, even though he is burdened by a 6lb penalty. His performances so far suggest that stamina is very much his main asset and although he wasn’t overly impressive when grinding out a win at Carlisle last time, his previous form stands up to the closest scrutiny because he chased home two of the brightest young stayers seen out so far this season, Coneygree and Gevrey Chambertin. It would be a surprise if he is not too good for today’s less illustrious company.
