Raceline: Tip of the day - 12th January

The weather is freezing cold -- but today’s racing at Kempton and Warwick looks sure to warm up punters. Let’s see if our resident tipster can cap a prolific week with another winner.

Saturday 12th January

DURSEY SOUND

Warwick 3.00 WIN

Trainer Jonjo O’Neill and owner JP McManus made two high-profile entries for this Grade Two novices’ hurdle, so it’s probably significant that they’ve plumped for the five-year-old son of Milan ahead of multiple winner At Fishers Cross. He comes up against a hot favourite in The New One, but is a highly progressive sort capable of further improvement and won’t be inconvenienced by trip or ground. The gelding caught the eye at Ascot last time when shouldering a double penalty behind a talented rival from the Paul Nicholls yard who went on to shine in Grade One company at Newbury. At the forecast odds, the fact that he’s the main mount of the day for champion jockey Tony McCoy clinches it.

FRIDAY: COUNSEL WON

WEDNESDAY; ELEVEN FIFTY NINE WON

TUESDAY: SHANGANI 3RD
